In 2010, the world was forever changed when it learned the impossible was possible.

2010: A private space station was launched by world renowned scientists Reed Richards and Victor Von Doom. Accompanying them were Susan Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm. After a tremendous accident, they were all forced to return to earth, most spending over a month in a coma.

Sometime thereafter, a man who would later be called mole man would lead a terrorist attack upon New York City. He would be quickly stopped by Susan Storm, Johnny Storm, Reed Richards, and Ben Grimm, all of them having been given fantastical powers from the accident in space.

This “Fantastic Four” quickly became an overnight sensation. Within a year they would have their own reality show. Within five years, they’d have their own television network.

2011: The Fantastic Four would cease to be the only super heroes. Spider-Man rose to prominence as the guardian of Manhattan. Daredevil became the “devil of Hell’s Kitchen.” Quickly the number of heroes and villains skyrocketed.

2012: Billionaire Tony Stark escaped from his kidnappers and returned to the United States. He quickly hired himself his own superhero, Iron Man, to prevent future kidnappings.

As the world would eventually learn, SHIELD began to function as a protectorate for superheroes, working to preserve the identities of heroes. They would also begin crafting responses for major super villain activity. They began to plan how to defend the country from all manners of superhero and villain events. They also enlisted the help of various heroes in various activities to keep the world safer. Or so they claimed.

2013: Captain America returned to the world after being frozen in ice for over 70 years. It wouldn’t take too long before he began to fight crime in New York.

2014: The amount of super heroes far outweighed super villains. Most heroes would find themselves fighting low level crime that had begun to grow more rampant with the world’s gaze fixated on those with powers.

Daredevil would be apparently killed on the street in New York City, in early morning. Circumstances of his death are covered up by the police.

2015: Multiple major terrorist attacks hit New York. These would be attributed to HYDRA, a terrorist group with origins in Nazi scientists from World War Two.

The world would be shaken by the most destructive superhero event. SHIELD had gotten word of another pending HYDRA attack. They summoned a group of heroes to their helicarrier in the sky off the coast of New York. This group of heroes was made up of Spider-Man, Ironman, The Cobalt Archer, the Steelwolf, the Hulk, Captain America and the Fantastic Four.

SHIELD was attacked from within, and two helicarriers located in New York were hijacked and launched, both fully armed and capable of leveling the city. The heroes were dispatched to stop them before they could be brought to full operation capacity. And they did, but by crashing the two together. This lead to major damage to the city, however, certainly far less thanks to Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four, civilian casualties were almost nonexistent.

This event lead to SHIELD being known to the world, and major distrust being placed in them. The head of Shield, Nick Fury, would soon find himself involved in many senate hearings.

The distrust in shield would also lead to the heroes wanting to no longer assist in shield related activities. With the goal of self-regulation, Captain America and Iron Man created the Avenger’s Charter. It would be signed by all those mentioned involved in the New York event.

Thus, the Avengers were formed.

Backed by billionaire Tony Stark, the Avengers quickly expanded in New York, quickly taking over one of Stark’s New York skyscrapers.

Many heroes would quickly join the Avengers. Over the next two years, many different teams would become Avenger’s sanctioned teams.

Will Jones goes on long term journalistic assignment in the middle east. He also kills ISIS.

2016: The West Coast Avengers were formed. Not long thereafter, smaller Avenger’s teams were created to send various regions of the country.

Former New York mayor, Walter Muurd was elected as president of the United States after a Trump style campaign.

The Fantastic Four’s television channel’s ratings are up and rumors of a second channel are abound.

The crime boss Michael Clarke, also known as “The Kingpin,” was killed by the SteelWolf falling on him. Footage of this was published by Will Jones.

Rowan Incorporated and Anderson International launched a multi-billion dollar project to further research and exploration in space. The “First Step” space station became fully functional.

2017: Mutants became known to the world. A fringe group of mutants led a terrorist attack on Detroit, leaving nearly a thousand dead. They announced their goals to dismantle the society that had kept them oppressed. They were only stopped by a group made up of mutants known as “The X-Men”.

Immediately the country and the world went into panic. Anyone could be a mutant and mutants are dangerous. Various groups in the US government call for the registration of mutants. Some go as far as to call for both mutant and superhero registration.

Thomas Anderson would seem to be killed when his orbiting space station exploded.

New York journalist Will Jones began to host a weekly talk show. On its first episode he revealed himself as a mutant, and as founding member of the Avengers, Cobalt Archer. His weekly show would help lower tension between the average American and mutants, however the government position would remain unchanged.

Not too long after, Will Jones would out major conspiracies surrounding billionaire Kurtis Rowan and the president. With evidence, he accused the president being under the control of someone who wanted to dismantle everything that the country stood for.

In response to this, Captain America denounced the United States government. In a personal piece with Millennia magazine’s Grace Harris, he stated that “if this is what America means now, he’d rather be a man without a nation. A ‘nomad.’”

Daredevil would return to fighting crime, after having been rescued, his death having been faked by Hydra.

2018: Super villain activity shrunk to an all-time low. This would lead many to wonder how necessary large superhero organizations like the Avengers were.

Early in the year, Wakanda, a previously thought to be impoverished nation, would open its doors to the world, allowing trade of advanced technology and valuable vibranium. This would only last until September of that same year when, seemingly without reason, they closed their doors to outsiders yet again.

Kurtis Rowan would go missing, and Thomas Anderson was revealed to have survived the explosion of his space station.

Hiroshi Matsumoto streamed Fortnite with Drake.

Tensions would rise between the citizens of New York and the police as major police violence became commonplace.

2019: This year would bring about the highest count of civilian casualties as a result of super powered happenings.

The winter was a harsh one, especially in the northeast, and the snow piled up record amounts. Despite this, anti NYPD protests would begin to happen on a daily basis. These were most commonly met with police force and aggression.

The tensions would boil over in NYC one day when the power went out across most of the city. It happened quickly, and before anyone really knew, the whole city seemed to be at war. Anti-police protests were not just met by riot shields and tear gas, but bullets. The protesters were not unprepared, however, and would fire back. It would come to light after the dust had settled, that it was a massive terrorist attack perpetrated by HYDRA, which had hands in all sides of the conflict. It was supposed to be the launching point of a terrorist war on America. They had blown all ways out of the city, leaving few options for evacuation.

This was all prevented by the Avengers duo known as Team Metal. Together they took down the heads of HYDRA as rapidly as they could, quickly grinding the organization to a halt. The final part of their quest brought them to Japan, leaving the rest of the Avengers to handle the full scale assault on New York.

Thankfully, a reformed team of HYDRA created synthetic life forms, The Ultron Legion, arrived and aided the Avengers in putting down the HYDRA forces.

A day later, as the Avengers discussed a plan of action, tired from their victory over HYDRA, a wormhole opened in the sky over New York. Out of it, began to pour troops for an alien invasion of the world. Aided by Thor, the God of Thunder, the Avengers put a stop to the invasion, but not without losses. With no easy evacuation routes, countless died or were injured. While no one can tell how many were from which event, the death toll for the previous two days reached over 800,000.

The dust had not yet settled before the Avengers got to work helping the people of New York rebuild.

A special council would be formed to help mend the hole left in the American government after the collapse of HYDRA.

After all was said and done, the world knew it needed the Avengers. However, in private, many members began to grow uncertain over whether or not they were fit to defend the world.

By March, Team Metal would help form a short-lived team up between the X-Men and the Avengers. This partnership would end in the face of growing public concern over mutants, as a result of a Mutant leveling a huge section of Detroit.

In early April, the Avengers and some former members of the X-men took down Magneto, the perpetrator of the Detroit attack. This however was overshadowed by the mishandling of a situation by the Avenger’s team The New Warriors. Their neglect and overconfidence in the apprehension of the super powered villain, Nitro, lead to their deaths, the death of Nitro, and the death of nearly 600 people, including 60 children, in Stamford Connecticut. This shifted legislative focus from mutants, to the Avengers and superheroes as a whole.

In June, the special council for rebuilding the US government announced that special elections would be held that year, to reelect every position that was left vacant in HYDRA’s wake. Due to the absolute infiltration of the chain of command, this would leave the presidency open for the right candidate.

One day later, founding member of the Avengers, Thomas Anderson, aka the SteelWolf, would announce his bid for president of the United States of America.

Quicksilver vanishes in a blur, saving thousands of civilians from a bomb.

On November 5th, Thomas Anderson was elected president of the United States.

A day later, after a major mental attack on the world, 9/10s of all mutants lost their powers. After this event, known as ‘M Day,’ Apocalypse attacked, and the mutants known as Angel, Jean Grey, Magneto, and Jubilee died in the effort to stop him. In the end, the heroes succeeded, and the world was safe.

There is discussion in the international community about how international the Avengers really are. While they have signed and gotten numerous heroes officially affiliated with the Avengers, they still have the largest concentration in the United States. Adding to this, Excalibur, Britain’s premier superhero team, as well as Europe’s largest and most well-known superhero team, has very publicly refused to be endorsed by the Avengers. They mostly cite past anti mutant allegations that various members of the Avengers have made, although they refused to name specific members. The X-Men have also refused affiliation, although without explanation most in the public attribute that to the recent tragedies that have befallen the mutant community.
