Eight years ago , the world was forever changed when it learned the impossible was possible.

Eight years ago, a private space station was launched by world renowned scientists Reed Richards and Victor Von Doom. Accompanying them were Susan Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm. After a tremendous accident, they were all forced to return to earth, most spending over a month in a coma.

Sometime thereafter, a man who would later be called mole man would lead a terrorist attack upon New York City. He would be quickly stopped by Susan Storm, Johnny Storm, Reed Richards, and Ben Grimm, all of them having been given fantastical powers from the accident in space.

This “Fantastic Four” quickly became an overnight sensation. Within a year they would have their own reality show. Within five years, they’d have their own television network.

Seven years ago, the Fantastic Four would cease to be the only super heroes. Spider-Man became the rose to prominence as the guardian of Manhattan. Daredevil became the “devil of Hell’s Kitchen.” Quickly the number of heroes and villains skyrocketed.

Six years ago billionaire Tony Stark escaped from his kidnappers and returned to the United States. He quickly hired himself his own superhero, Iron Man, to prevent future kidnappings.

As the world would eventually learn, SHIELD began to function as a protectorate for superheroes, working to preserve the identities of heroes. They would also begin crafting responses for major super villain activity. They began to plan how to defend the country from all manners of super hero and villain events. They also enlisted the help of various heroes in various activities to keep the world safer. Or so they claimed.

Five years ago, Captain America returned to the world after being frozen in ice for over 70 years. It wouldn’t take too long before he began to fight crime in New York.

Four years ago, the amount of super heroes far outweighed super villains. Most heroes would find themselves fighting low level crime that had begun to grow more rampant with the world’s gaze fixated on those with powers.

Three years ago, multiple major terrorist attacks hit New York. These would be attributed to HYDRA, a terrorist group with origins in Nazi scientists from World War Two.

Three years ago, the world would be shaken by the most destructive superhero event. SHIELD had gotten word of another pending HYDRA attack. They summoned a group of heroes to their helicarrier in the sky off the coast of New York. This group of heroes was made up of Spider-Man, Ironman, The Cobalt Archer, the Steelwolf, the Hulk, Captain America and the Fantastic Four.

SHIELD was attacked from within, and two helicarriers located in New York were hijacked and launched, both fully armed and capable of leveling the city. The heroes were dispatched to stop them before they could be brought to full operation capacity. And they did, but by crashing the two together. This lead to major damage to the city, however certainly far less thanks to Spider-Man and the fantastic four, civilian casualties were almost non existent.

This event lead to SHIELD being know to the world, and major distrust being placed in them. The head of Shield, Nick Fury, would soon find himself involved in many senate hearings.

The distrust in shield would also lead to the heroes wanting to no longer assist in shield related activities. With the goal of self regulation, Captain America and Iron Man created the Avenger’s Charter. It would be signed by all those mentioned involved in the New York event.

Thus, the Avengers were formed.

Backed by billionaire Tony Stark, the Avengers quickly expanded in New York, quickly taking over one of Stark’s New York skyscrapers.

Many heroes would quickly join the Avengers. Over the next two years, many different teams would become Avenger’s sanctioned teams.

Two years ago, The West Coast Avenger’s were formed. Not long there after, smaller Avenger’s teams were created to send various regions of the country.

Two years ago, former New York mayor, Walter Muurd was elected as president of the United States after a trump style campaign.

The Fantastic Four’s television channel’s ratings are up and rumors of a second channel are abound.

Rowan Incorporated and Anderson International launched a multi billion dollar project to further research and exploration in space. The “First Step” space station became fully functional.

One year ago, mutants became known to the world. A fringe group of mutants led a terrorist attack on Detroit, leaving nearly a thousand dead. They announced their goals to dismantle the society that had kept them oppressed. They were only stopped by a group made up of mutants known as “The X-Men”.

Immediately the country and the world went into panic. Anyone could be a mutant and mutants are dangerous. Various groups in the US government call for the registration of mutants. Some go as far as to call for both mutant super hero registration.

New York journalist Will Jones began to host a weekly talk show. On its first episode he revealed himself as a mutant, and as founding member of the Avengers, Cobalt Archer. His weekly show would help lower tension between the average American and mutants, however the government position would remain unchanged.

Not too long after, Will Jones would out major conspiracies surrounding billionaire Kurtis Rowan and the president. With evidence, he accused the president being under the control of someone who wanted to dismantle everything that the country stood for.

In response to this, Captain America denounced the United States government. In a personal piece with Millennia magazine’s Grace Harris, he stated that “if this is what America means now, he’d rather be a man without a nation. A ‘nomad’”.
