The EDA is the current governing body of most of mankind. Established 30 years before the dawn of the New Century, it was originally formed as an alliance between nations, as war over who would rule in the Earth Sphere became the dominant issue of the time. At the end of the earliest space conflicts, the EDA stood victorious, and transitioned into a true governing body as the "New Century" was proclaimed.
